Grants totaling more than a half-million dollars have been awarded to improve parks and tourism opportunities across Kentucky. Governor Steve Beshear recently announced the 18 Land and Water Conservation Fund project grants. He says improving parks and recreational facilities is good for tourism as well as local residents, who will also be able to enjoy the projects. The Department for Local Government will administer the funds, which total over five hundred thousand dollars. In our area, the Pennyrile Mountain Bike Skills Training Area in Christian County will receive 60 thousand dollars and the Dawson Springs City Park will get just under 14 thousand for upgrades.
