A preliminary study finds Clarksville's Police officers are underpaid by 11 percent compared to market value. The city-funded study looked at Clarksville's employee pay structure and found on average city workers are about 3% underpaid. City Council members earlier this year set aside over a million dollars to fund across-the-board pay hikes, which go into effect next year. City Human Resources Director Will Wyatt tells the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle the reason the city's police officers are comparatively underpaid may because they are classified in the same pay-matrix as the city's firefighters and salaries for entry and mid-level employees are scaled the same.© Copyright 2013, wkms
