Metropolis Passes 15-year Sewer Separation Plan
(2010-06-29)
METROPOLIS, IL
(wkms) -
Metropolis, Illinois City Councilors last night approved a sewer separation plan under pressure from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The 15-year proposition aims to reduce the amount of sewage that overflows into the Ohio River when storm waters surge the system. City Alderman Bob Midnight tells the Paducah Sun the plan is just budgetary at this point and citizens shouldn't worry about included rate schedules that predict $84 monthly bills to cover expenses. He says those are based on what it would take to finance all the projects, which the city won't undertake.
