Metropolis Wants Green Lighting
(2010-06-02)
(wkms) - Metropolis, Illinois is going after grant money to replace many of its streetlight fixtures with ones that conserve some forty percent of the energy used to power the current bulbs. The city's Water, Light and Street Committee approved a proposal to seek funding for the estimated $80,000 project through a $60,000 Illinois Municipal Electric Association grant. The rest would be funded by Metropolis. City Attorney Rick Abell tells the Paducah Sun some of what the city would pay could come in the form of labor, paying municipal electric system line workers. © Copyright 2013, wkms
