Illinois High Speed Rail Projects to Resume in Spring
(2011-01-10)
(wsiu) - Agreements have been signed between the Illinois Department of Transportation, Union Pacific and Amtrak to continue work on high speed rail projects this spring.

IDOT spokesman Guy Tridgell says work is currently on hold on the Lincoln Service corridor between St. Louis and Chicago because of winter weather, but the agreement means work will start up again when it's warmer.

Work between Alton and Lincoln will likely resume in March as well.

At the same time, work will begin on a stretch of rail between Lincoln and Dwight.
When work resumes, there will likely be some schedule changes on the Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle lines, the extent of which isn't yet known.

High speed rail between St. Louis and Chicago is expected to be complete in 2014.
