Blue Cross Says More than 100 TN Jobs 'in Jeopardy'
(2010-09-03)
(wkms) - BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has notified more than 100 employees that their jobs are "in jeopardy" as part of planned cuts in its TennCare division. Spokeswoman Mary Thompson says executives want to limit layoffs while trying to cut 140 jobs from the TennCare division by November. Thompson says employees were told about potential job reductions.

BlueCross plans to leave vacant jobs unfilled and will shift some employees to different departments. Thompson says BlueCross in March cut 93 positions, but just eight employees lost their jobs. BlueCross' TennCare subsidiary is projected to lose $42 million in 2010, compared to $95 million last year.
