UofL Opens New Health Research Building
(2009-10-12)
(Kentucky Public Radio) -

The University of Louisville's newest medical research building is now officially open. Officials cut the ribbon today on the $143 million Clinical and Translational
Research, or CTR building.

UofL Executive Vice-President for Health Affairs Dr. Larry Cook says scientists
in the 300,000 square foot facility will conduct research in disciplines such as
cancer, gastrointestinal and infectious disease and pulmonology.

"As our nation debates health care reform, I think one issue is certain. That
is the need to conduct research to prevent and better treat diseases that affect
our people. This is the role of an academic medical center," Cook said.

The building is located at the corner of South Hancock and Muhammad Ali Boulevard on the UofL Health Sciences Campus.
