Lansing area elections yield few surprises LANSING, MI (WKAR) - There were few surprises in yesterday's elections in mid-Michigan.

Lansing voters said yes to a second term for Mayor Virg Bernero. He captured 62% of the vote to challenger Carol Wood's 37%. Council members Brian Jeffries and Kathie Dunbar retained their seats, while challenger Tina Houghton ousted 16-year council veteran Sandy Allen. Jessica Yorko won the city's fourth ward council seat.

East Lansing voters returned Victor Loomis and Kevin Beard to the city council. The council will choose its next mayor on the 17th.

In Meridian Township, voters approved a CATA millage. As of late Tuesday night, 94%of the vote had been tallied in the Lansing Community College Board of Trustees race. Final results should be known today, when Clinton County releases its vote count. Board chairperson Deborah Canja appears to have won re-election. The other two seats are likely to go to Larry Meyer and incumbent Robert Proctor.
