Tax Credit Bill Tries to Keep Pfizer Jobs in Kalamazoo
(2003-05-07)
(wmuk) - A state house committee has approved two bills intended to encourage Pfizer to continue growing in Michigan. Part of the legislation would lower the threshold Pfizer has to meet to qualify for a tax credit under the Michigan Economic Growth Authority. The legislation would give the pharmaceutical company breaks on the single business tax for creating as few as five new jobs. The bill now goes to the full House. Pfizer began laying off workers from its Kalamazoo research and development operation last week. It's still unclear how many Pfizer employees will lose their jobs in Kalamazoo. © Copyright 2012, wmuk
