Developers are considering a 100-square-mile area of Lake Michigan near Ludington as the site for a wind energy farm with up to 200 turbines.
The Ludington Daily News reports the turbines would be placed 3.7 miles from shore and could reach 300 feet high.
Developers with Havgul Clean Energy and Sandia Wind described the project this week to officials from Mason and Oceana counties.
The developers said they were still crafting the plans for a 1,000-megawatt wind farm. It would include either 200 5-megawatt turbines or 100 10-megawatt turbines, or some combination of the two.
They said it might take a decade to phase in the project, which could cost up to $3 billion.
