Lansing Clerk predicts 25% voter turnout LANSING, MI (WKAR) - Heading into this election day, Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope had projected that 25% of eligible voters in the city would cast ballots. That would match the turnout of the 2005 mayoral election.

After checking in with poll locations around the city this morning, he expects that number to hold up.

"We do an 11 o'clock call-around to our precincts, and tracking that against a couple of other elections, I think we're on track for 25-percent turnout."

Lansing has about 83,000 registered voters, so the clerk's office is expecting to count about 21,000 votes tonight.

Swope urges those who forgot to turn in an absentee ballot to do so before 8 o'clock. That can be done either at city hall, or at a second location, at 2500 South Washington, the former National Guard Armory.

Polling places remain open until 8 p-m. Swope expects results to be finalized by 10 or 11 p-m.
