Michigan's business community is giving state lawmakers and Governor Granholm failing marks for their performance in 2007. About 700 of the Michigan Chamber's 7,000 members responded to an e-mail survey. 86% gave the governor a grade of D or lower. The Legislature did even worse, getting a grade of D or below 90% of the time. The Chamber's executive vice president Rich Studley says the low ratings come from the protracted fight over the state's budget. Studley says the Chamber hopes lawmakers use the first few months before the elections to make major changes to the state's energy law, and to find more money for road repairs.
