Activists Hope to Lure Grocers to Detroit
Kha-Mis Kanunname is an organizer with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - or ACORN.
Kanunname says if the effort is successful, it could be used to help other cities.
"If we can create the correct atmosphere here in Detroit - if we can get involved and find out what is going to be the actual solution for this, then we can take this and move it around the country," said Kanunname.
Detroit has very few full-service grocery stores. Grocers say higher costs and crime make it difficult to be profitable in inner cities.

A grassroots group is kicking off a campaign tomorrow to try and lure grocery stores to Detroit.Kha-Mis Kanunname is an organizer with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - or ACORN.
