Leukodystrophy Awareness Walk in honor of Olivia K Borodychuk to be held on September 28th at 10am. The event takes place at Riverside Park in downtown Dewitt. Families who come out to support the Borodychuk family will be walking a 4 mile loop around the city of Dewitt bringing awareness to the community about the rarest form of Leukodsytrophy, Alexander Disease. Olivia, who is only 4, was diagnosed at the age of 2 and experiences day to day health challenges associated with the disease such as seizures, spasms, and limited mobility. There have only been 200 reported cases of Alexander Disease and children affected have an average life span of 5-7 years. There is currently no cure, but the walk is held to raise funds for the United Leukodsytrophy Foundation for research for a cure. There will also be an online silent auction being held on September 13 through the 23rd. http://www.32auctions.com/TeamOliviaK. Come out and show your support. There will be food, music and giveaways/raffle.
