Soldiers from the 144th Military Police Company will deploy first to Fort Bliss, Texas for approximately 30 days of mobilization training before leaving for Afghanistan. The group will serve as force protection for U.S. Armed Forces. Today, more than 700 Michigan National Guard Soldiers and Airmen are deployed across the globe in support of the war on terrorism; however, as the Michigan Guard Serves the nation abroad, more than 90 percent of the force is available, trained and ready to respond to a state emergency, including a terrorist event. |
