Immanuel Lutheran Bell Choir selections include “The Ash Grove” a Welsh Tune. They were organized in 2003 and the bells were purchased by and inscribed with names of the congregation members. Barb Paulins is their director. Wacousta Community United Methodist Church Bell Choir will perform “It’s a Small World“ by Sherman as one of their numbers. The Adult Fellowship Class donated the funds to start their choir in 1983. Carol Orsborn directs their bell choir. First Congregational United Church of Christ Grand Ringers will include “Ragtime” by Kearns in their selections. In existence since 1979, their bells were gifts in memory of Gerry Johnson and Frank Fitzgerald. Recently the choir has expanded to an ecumenical group including members from four churches. They are directed by Darlene Banks who served as coordinator this concert also. Soloists between the bell choirs include: Ben Banks with Judy Nielson at the piano performing “I Surrender All” by McKlveen/Miller; Sue DeWitt with Deb DeWitt at the piano playing “Chim Chim Cher-ee” by Sherman; and vocalist Elizabeth Kunc accompanied by John J. Loose on the guitar singing “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning” by Mann/Hilliard. Additionally, the choirs will join together for several group choir numbers. Have you ever wanted to play the bells? You will have a chance to “Play with Us” near the end of the program. Adult pre-sale tickets are $8, $10 at the door. Student tickets are $5. Immediate family tickets are $18. Tickets are available at the Opera House, MacDowell’s Hearth and Flowers and TrueValue Hardware. |
