ERIC STRINGFELLOW HOSTS NEW WJSU WEEKLY ROUNDTABLE SEGMENT
The 30-minute talk show is another milestone in the popular jazz radio station's effort to continue offering outstanding programming following 30 years of existence.
Gina P. Carter, WJSU assistant general manager/development director, said the station is extremely excited to be adding a new segment to its lineup.
With more than 20 years of journalism experience, Stringfellow already has a loyal following through his hard-hitting, informative and thought-provoking columns.
Carter said she believes the segment is going to be a very strong, local lead-in to the nationally respected News and Notes produced by National Public Radio.
JSU is the only station in Jackson to air the NPR program. But we hope to eventually get other area radio stations to carry the Metro Journal. Some of the topics will include local, regional and statewide politics, sports and even the latest news, said Carter.
Stringfellow said he also is excited about the new show, calling it a forum that is desperately needed in Jackson.
I've done broadcasting before, and this gives me an opportunity to do things that you can't do in a column, such as engaging dialogue with people and other guests that will be on the program, he said. I am looking forward to it and have had great response already from potential sponsors.
