Donate Your Vehicle Today: The Most Important Miles Are Yet to Come
(2007-03-26)
(wjsu) - Donors only need to provide a clean title and make sure the vehicle has no major damage. Vehicles will be picked up within five days. A receipt, which can be used for tax purposes, will be sent in the mail.

The proceeds from each donation will support the station's Drive to Digital Campaign, which, in April, will offer listeners a digital broadcast with a stronger signal, less distortion, and more timeless music and current news. WJSU's digital broadcast is expected to be the only such broadcast in the state, including public and commercial stations. The conversion also will allow WJSU to train students using the latest technology.

With 88 hours devoted to jazz each week, WJSU operates at 24,500 watts, reaching Hinds, Simpson, Madison, Rankin, and Copiah counties. WJSU is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and has membership in National Public Radio. For nearly three decades, WJSU has relied upon the financial support of federal agencies, like CPB, to achieve the status of the area's No. 1 source for jazz and a first-rate training ground for students in the department of mass communications. As traditional funding sources for public broadcasting entities become less reliable, and the demand for the station's unparalleled services increases, WJSU must find new innovative means of sustaining its offerings. Station managers hope to raise $50,000 through this program over the next year.
