In The Tri States - December 2011
(wium) - A look back at the top stories and features from the Tri States Public Radio news department from December 2011.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture held a six-hour public hearing on a proposal by a group of out-of-state farmers who want to build a large-scale hog farm in northwest McDonough County. Later in the month the county board voted to recommend approval of the project.

Tom Marion won re-election as Keokuk's mayor and John Helenthal won the run-off election for Keokuk at-large alderman.

A now former member of the Hamilton Board of Education was charged with sexual abuse, ten members of the SCC men's basketball team were booted out of school for conduct violations, and former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich learned how much time he will have to spend behind bars.

Reporter Jim Lenz told us about an uncommon group of athletes, reporter Jason Parrott explained why a crowd gathered at the Keokuk National Cemetery on a chilly mid-December morning, and News Director Rich Egger introduced us to an artisan who works with glass.

Egger also examined the renewed interest in the old LP music format.
