On the first day of the month, Clark County broke ground for its new courthouse. Around 50 people attended, despite triple-digit temperatures.

President Obama came to the region in mid-August, where he said there is nothing wrong with the country but there is something wrong with our politics. The Illinois Republican Party criticized the president's trip.

A new school year began at Western Illinois University in August with a new person in charge. Dr Jack Thomas is WIU's 11th president. He had been the school's provost.

Reporter Jason Parrott told us about the battle over the fate of a former church in Keokuk, reporter Jim Lenz looked at plans for re-imagining downtown Monmouth, and New Director Rich Egger reported on an unlikely partnership that brought some much-needed trees to the east side of Macomb.
