Mick Wisslead
(wium) - Rich Egger's guest is Macomb Mayor Mick Wisslead, who steps down Monday (May 2) after two terms in office.

Wisslead was elected in February 2003. He earned more than 60% of the vote to defeat two other candidates in the primary. He ran unopposed for a second term in 2007.

Wisslead thinks a great deal was accomplished during the past eight years. Pella Corporation's decision to build a factory in Macomb was one of the highlights. He said many people and groups worked together to make it happen.

He also said NTN Bower has steadily increased its workforce in Macomb in recent years.

Wisslead said his predecessor, Tom Carper, was great during the transition period eight years ago. Wisslead said he worked to take Mayor-elect Mike Inman to as many places as possible during the past couple months to introduce him to people he's known in state government.

What does Wisslead plan to do in retirement? "Anything that I want to do. That's got a nice ring to it, doesn't it?" Wisslead said.
