Shop Talk - October 5
(wium) - The panelists talk about graphic novels and the role they play in today's media landscape.

While many graphic novel stories are fiction, many others explore non-fiction. For example, the 9-11 commission report has been turned into a graphic novel, and the Holocaust story Maus: A Survivor's Tale won a Pulitzer Prize.

The Western Illinois University Libraries will host a series of discussions about graphic novels. "Superhero Shakespeare: Comics and the Politics of Authorship" will take place Wednesday, October 6, 12:00 noon.

"The (too) Graphic Novel: Teaching 'Fun Home' and 'Persepolis' at WIU" will take place Thursday, November 4, 12:00 noon.

"From Heroes to Antiheroes, or How Did We Get to Kickass from Superman?" takes place Wednesday, December 1, 12:00 noon.

All three discussions will be held in Room 180 of Malpass Library at WIU.
