Shop Talk - September 14
(wium) - The panelists discuss whether early voting might change the way campaigns are covered.

Some news organizations print a "voter guide" or run election preview stories in the weeks before election day. They might be forced to move up their deadline because of early voting.

Early voting might allow news organizations to predict outcomes sooner if reporters can determine if those votes were cast from precincts that lean heavily toward one party or another.

The panelists are not impressed with the election coverage offered by mainstream media giants in the past couple decades. There is too much of a focus on the "horse race" and polls while there is a lack of attention to issues.
