Shop Talk - March 30
(2010-03-30)
(wium) - The panelists talk about the pundits who appear on many cable television talk shows. A number of them are paid lobbyists for corporations or public relations firms.

MSNBC, Fox, and CNN are all guilty of at least occasionally putting these "experts" on the air without giving viewers full disclosure of their interests. Many are simply identified by party affiliation without any mention of their current jobs as lobbyists or their ties to corporations.

As a result, viewers don't know everything they should about these pundits' motivation for their spin on the important topics of the day - whether it be the economy, health care reform, or the nation's energy sources.

The New York Times and The Nation have both reported on the issue.
