Shop Talk - January 19
(wium) - The panelists talk about the first change to the recently updated Freedom of Information Act law in Illinois.

Teacher unions pushed for the change. It will allow school districts to keep private the job performance reports of teachers, principals, and superintendents.

Supporters of the change say there could be problems if the evaluations are made public. For example, parents could request evaluations for all teachers at a certain grade level and then pick the teacher they want.

Opponents of the change believe the public has a right to see the evaluations. They say parents should be allowed to know more about how teachers are performing.
