Keokuk Ready To Sell School
(2008-09-22)
Keokuk Municipal Waterworks plans to build its tower behind the former Lincoln Elementary School
KEOKUK, IA (wium) - The Keokuk School District is one step closer to selling a former elementary school.

The Keokuk School Board has unofficially accepted the $146,000 offer from Keokuk Municipal Waterworks to purchase the former Lincoln Elementary School.

The sale cannot be finalized until after the panel holds a public hearing.

That hearing will take place during the board's meeting on October 13.

Superintendent Lora Wolff says the money must go towards specific infrastructure projects.

She says the new fitness center is one possible use for the money.

General Manager Bill Cole says Keokuk Municipal Waterworks plans to build a multi-million gallon storage tower behind the former school.

He says nothing has been discussed as far as a future use for the building.
