WIU President Al Goldfarb Gives State of the University Address
President Al Goldfarb went through the many accomplishments of the University over the past year, but he also touched on issues that still need to be improved upon.
Goldfarb says the average ACT scores have remained constant over the past few years, even though the strategic plan calls for an increase. Goldfarb believes the University can continue to serve special admission students, while enhancing the overall ACT score average.
Goldfarb wants admissions to target students with an ACT score of 22 to 24. Goldfarb also wants to focus on enrollment. He says despite enrollment being up in some areas, the freshman class was smaller than the target of 1,900 students.
Goldfarb adds a priority this year is to review projects that have been completed and finish those that are not yet completed.
Additional Information:
*Goldfarb noted that the University was once again named a Top Tier Masters Granting University in U.S. News and World Report.
*Goldfarb said it was hard for him to believe this is his 7th year at the University. He joked saying the 7th year, in biblical and academic terms, is the year of rest. He said he could take a sabbatical, but instead is reinvigorated by the accomplishments of the WIU community.
