City & County Hire Network Administrator
(2008-09-23)
MACOMB, IL (wium) - Jake Holmes was hired as the network administrator for Macomb and McDonough County. Holmes, a graduate of Spoon River College, was previously employed by the McDonough County Highway Department. While employed there, Holmes helped develop the department's website.

Holmes will now do that and more for both McDonough County and Macomb. The two bodies agreed nearly three months ago to hire a network administrator and split the cost of the salary. Holmes says there is a definite need for a network administrator because there are a lot of computing and security needs.

Holmes will also maintain city and county computers, help with troubleshooting, and set up a file sharing network. Holmes says he will first install business office software in city and county computers.

Additional Information:

*The network administrator is technically a McDonough County employee but he will maintain an office in City Hall.

*The county will invoice the city for 50% of the network administrator's salary and benefits.

*The network administrator will be supervised by the city and county.

*The contract is for only one year however, upon agreement, the city and county can automatically renew the agreement.
