CSC Switching to a Four-Day Class Week
(2008-09-22)
GALESBURG, IL (wium) - One of the region's community colleges will no longer hold classes 5 days a week. Beginning in January, Carl Sandburg College will operate on a 4 day class week, Monday-through-Thursday.

Dean of Occupational Programs, Mark Pfleiger says gas prices and the economy were factors in the decision. Pfleiger says this is also an effort to reduce the college's carbon footprint. Pfleiger says it is a green initiative for the school.

He says the college will not shut down on Fridays. It will still be open to the public. Pfleiger says classes that would have met on Friday will only meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, for 75 minutes.

Additional Information:

*Pfleiger says two Fridays a month will be used for faculty committee meetings.
