Central Lee To Adopt "Healthy" Curriculum
(2008-09-17)
LEE COUNTY, IA (wium) - One Lee County school district will take part in a program aimed at curbing childhood obesity.

Administrator Julie Schilling says the Lee County Health Department will use a $35,000 state grant to implement the Catch Kids curriculum within the Central Lee School District.

She says the nationally-recognized program teaches healthy eating and promotes physical activity.

Schilling says the two year program will get underway in November. The first year will focus on staff training and the second year on implementation.

Schilling says if the program is deemed a success, it could be implemented within the Fort Madison and Keokuk school districts.
