SCC Wants New Tax Levy For Equipment Needs
Voters in seven Southeast Iowa counties, including Lee, Des Moines, and Van Buren, will see Public Measure B on their ballots for Tuesday's school board elections.
SCC needs the public to authorize the creation of a $0.06/$1,000 levy, on top of the current $0.03/$1000 levy. The new tax levy could be in place for up to ten years.
President Beverly Simone says SCC is the only community college in Iowa that has not added the additional levy. She says the new instructional equipment levy would be implemented during the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2009.
