Flooding has Impact on Enrollment at Area Community Colleges
Carl Sandburg College has a partnership with Southeastern Community College. C-S-C Vice President of Academic Services, Lori Sundberg, says students pay tuition to C-S-C, but actually attend S-C-C, because it's a shorter drive from their homes.
Sundberg says enrollment through the partnership is down. Sundberg says the college thinks people are still displaced from the flood and not yet back in their homes.
She says the college should be able to determine how big of an impact the flooding had on enrollment, once the spring semester starts. Sundberg says at that point, everyone should be back in their homes.
Enrollment through the partnership is down more than 640 credit hours than what was projected for the semester.
Additional Information:
*Overall, C-S-C's enrollment was up nearly 5%.
*C-S-C had anticipated students, through the partnership, would be taking 2700 credit hours.
