Alderman At-Large Submits Letter of Resignation
(2008-08-29)
MACOMB, IL (wium) - There is a vacancy on the Macomb City Council.

Alderman At-Large Chris Senn submitted his letter of resignation to the city this week. In the letter, Senn states he is resigning because of teaching demands and involvement in his wife's business.

Mayor Mick Wisslead says he is disappointed Senn is leaving. Wisslead calls Senn a voice of reason and says he has been a great alderman. Wisslead says it will be hard to replace him.

Wisslead hopes to have someone appointed to Senn's seat as soon as possible. The replacement will serve until May. The person who fills the final two-years of the term will be chosen by voters in next year's city elections.

Wisslead says members of the council will be appointed to replace Senn on three committees he served on.

Additional Information

*Senn's resignation is effective immediately.

*The mayor's appointment must be approved by the council.
