Hamilton Community Center Coming Soon
(2008-08-27)
HAMILTON, IL (wium) - Residents will have to wait a little longer to see Hamilton's new community center.

Mayor Steve Woodruff says this summer's flooding has delayed necessary renovations to the former Hamilton Elementary School.

He says it could be 20-30 days before it is open for business.

The new community center is located along Main Street.

It will replace Hamilton's senior center and serve as home for at least one service organization.

Woodruff says the community center will be large enough for family reunions or wedding receptions.

Last February, voters rejected a plan to build a $500,000 structure at the former site of the city's ambulance service.

*Additional Information*
- The city's $1,500 lease payment includes most utilities and maintenance.
- The current senior center is located across the street from city hall.
