Setting the Table for Museum Exhibit
The display is called "Setting the Table - Then and Now." It will showcase dinnerware and related items. Everything will be loaned or donated by McDonough County residents.
A group of volunteers spent time on August 21 accepting and cataloging items. More items will be accepted August 23 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm. Anyone can drop by and there is no need to set an appointment.
The exhibit was proposed by Estele Pledge. She's a member of the Red Hat Society and says the group likes to see what others have. The idea for the display grew out of that.
You can listen to an interview with Pledge by clicking on the audio button.
Additional information:
*Pledge and Elaine Goldfarb are co-curators for the exhibit.
*Some of the items in the exhibit are described as "precious." Others have purely sentimental value. The items include fine china, plastic dishes, and metal lunchboxes.
*The exhibit will open September 4. It will remain on display for a couple months. © Copyright 2009, wium
