Kruse To Run For Iowa Senate
Larry Kruse (R-1) hopes to jump from the Lee County Board of Supervisors to the Iowa Senate.
(wium) - Republican Larry Kruse has represented northern Lee County on the Board of Supervisors for the last 6 year.

His current term expires December 31, 2012.

Kruse has decided that he will not seek a third term.

He says after hearing words of encouragement from many residents, he is ready to make a run for a seat in the Iowa Senate.

Kruse says the state needs to do what it can to reduce the commercial property tax rate.

He says that cannot come, though, at the expense of county government.

Kruse says if the state commits to making up the revenue lost by counties, it must follow through.

Kruse would be running in the newly-drawn 42nd district.

It includes all of Lee and Henry Counties and portions of Jefferson and Washington Counties.

Democrat Gene Fraise has represented a majority of the new district in the Iowa Senate for the last 26-years.

The primary is still ten months away.
