(2006-09-15)
(VPR) -

He was once considered the most trusted man in America and despite signing off from his signature news program in 1981, Walter Cronkite's image and voice remain among the most iconic in journalism.

In a career spanning more than three decades, Cronkite delivered the electrifying events of the Kennedy assassination, the Vietnam War and the resignation of President Nixon into the homes of millions.

The veteran news reporter and anchor has written the forward to a new book called "Memories of World War II" and will be speaking tomorrow night in the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, which is presenting a new exhibition of pictures from the Second World War.
