Keokuk Being Considered for New Jobs
Representatives of WTF Asia International attended this week's Chamber of Commerce sponsored RAP Breakfast. C-E-O Patrick Hayes told the crowd of more than 75 people that his firm is considering Keokuk as the site of a new manufacturing center that could create 2000-3000 new jobs.
Hayes would not elaborate on the announcement after the event. WFT Asia International's website says the firm, which is based in China, specializes in recycling and re-using a wide variety of materials.
Steve Bisenius with the Lee County Economic Development Group says Keokuk is just one location being considered by WTF Asia International. He says LCEDG has only been working with the firm for about one month.
Bisenius says WTF Asia International is considering locations in several states, so an announcement is premature. He says the representatives attended RAP breakfast to learn about how Keokuk is trying to address its shortfall of trained workers.
