ISU Extension Prepares for Regional Work
DONNELLSON, IA
(wium) -
The Iowa State University Extension will soon operate with regional goals in mind.
State budget cuts are forcing the organization to let their county extension education directors go. ISU Extension will hire 20 regional directors to serve the state.
Lee County Extension Education Director Bob Dodds has been selected to serve District 20, effective August 1. That region includes Lee, Des Moines, Henry, and Louisa Counties.
Dodds says this will offer more opportunities for regional projects and programs. He says that has already been taking place given Lee County's proximity to Missouri and Illinois.
Dodds says his home office will soon be selected. He says Burlington and Mount Pleasant applied for the distinction.
Dodds says he plans to spend at least one day a week in each county.
