Live Music Kicks Off Summer In Keokuk
(2009-05-29)
null
Predawn Hour was just one of the bands taking part in Keokuk's 3rd Annual Back Alley BandFest.
KEOKUK, IA (wium) - Keokuk's Cultural & Entertainment District debuted its Back Alley BandFest in 2007. Now in its third year, the event is still going strong.

This year, the unofficial start to summer featured nearly a dozen bands playing in garages throughout Keokuk's southeast side. Several hundred music lovers turned out for the latest showcase.

Public Radio's Jason Parrott talked to several performers about their bands, their music, and why they play. You can hear his audio postcard by clicking the audio link above.

Keokuk's Cultural & Entertainment District will sponsor more live music this summer, including a salsa music concert in Keokuk's new Rand Park Pavilion in late July.
