Hunt County unemployment drops to 6.6%

HUNT COUNTY (ketr) - The unemployment rate for Hunt County dipped slightly between the months of March and April.

The numbers are the latest from the Texas Workforce Commission, issued on Friday.

Hunt County was listed with a 6.6 percent unemployment rate in April, down from the 6.9 percent in March. The numbers, however, are far above the 4.3 percent rate listed during April 2008.

Elsewhere throughout the region, Hopkins County recorded a 4.8 percent unemployment rate, 6.6 percent in Delta County, Lamar County posted at 6.3 percent rate, 7.2 percent in Fannin, Rains County 6.4 percent, Rockwall County 6.1 percent, and Collin County 6.4 percent.

The statewide unemployment rate was listed at 6.7 percent during April.
