Unemployment drops in Wisconsin

Unemployment rates in Wisconsin dropped slightly in April. New figures from the State Department of Workforce Development show the unemployment rate last month was 8.8 percent, down from 9.4 percent in March. The agency estimated about 17,000 more people had a job in April than in March. Goods producers added 1,600 jobs and services producers added 9,900 jobs in April. Agency officials didn't immediately return a message Thursday afternoon. The national unemployment rate in April was 8.6 percent, down from 9 percent in March.
