Historic Museum Coming To Fort Madison
The LST 325 was one of the landing ships used during World War II to transport tanks and soldiers.
It is now a museum, after 35 years of service in the US and Greek Navies.
Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tracy Vance says the LST 325 will arrive in Fort Madison on September 9.
He says some special accomodations are needed, in Riverview Park, to prepare for the more than 300' ship.
Vance says a special dock will be constructed out of barges.
The LST 325 will leave Fort Madison September 15.
It will then travel to its home port of Evansville, IN.

- Tours will be given Sept. 10-14.
- The ship will also visit and Hannibal, MO.
