WIU Art Gallery Receives Donation
(2008-08-12)
MACOMB, IL (wium) - Western Illinois University's Art Gallery has received its largest ever donation of
artwork.

The collection features pieces by Warren Anderson. He uses photography, montages, and prismacolor pencil drawings to highlight road signs from across the U-S, mainly from along Route 66.

Gallery Curator John Graham says a former gas station near downtown Macomb inspired one of Anderson's pieces.

Graham says the collection is unique because it includes so many pieces done by one artist. The collection contains more than 100 pieces. It was donated by Anderson's son, Brian Anderson.

Additional Information:

*Warren Anderson graduated from WIU State College in 1950.

*He received the Alumni Achievement Award in 1980.

*The collection is valued at $77,705.00.
