Small Towns Battle The Big River
(2008-07-16)
TRI STATES REGION (wium) - Small Towns Battle The Big River is an audio scrapbook of the Great Flood of 2008.

In this half-hour documentary, you'll hear from some of the many people who worked to hold back the Mighty Mississippi in the tri states region. Some tried to save their own homes, while others helped their friends and neighbors in a true display of community spirit. Some won the battle; others lost.

You'll also learn where all those sandbags came from and you'll hear about the flood museum that ended up in flood waters.

Small Towns Battle The Big River aired as the Illinois Edition program on Illinois Public Radio stations during the second weekend of July. It was produced by the Tri States Public Radio news department.
