Central Lee Losing Students
(2007-11-28)
DONNELLSON, IA (wium) - The Central Lee School District is already preparing for another tight budget.

The district resolved a significant shortfall in its current budget through program eliminations and staff cuts.

Superintendent John Henriksen says the financial outlook is not getting any brighter.

He says Central Lee's 2007-2008 certified enrollment dropped 45 students when compared to last year.

That number impacts the budget for the 2008-2009 school year.

Henriksen says with school districts in Iowa receiving around $5,500 per student, the shortfall will be around $250,000.

He says the school board has already held a workshop to discuss the district's budget for next year and where it needs to be.
