Hamilton Could Vote On Community Center
(2007-10-16)
(wium) - Hamilton plans to give its residents the opportunity to weigh in on the development of a proposed community center.

Mayor Steve Woodruff says the city wants to ask voters, in February, to determine the location of the center.

He says the best option, at this point, is the city's former ambulance property.

Woodruff says 300 signatures must be collected before voters can decide on where the community center would be at that location.

He says that if the idea is supported, the city would have look for options to pay for the project.

Woodruff says that could include a second ballot referendum, much farther down the road, to create a small tax levy to support the facility.
