Repairs to Hamilton Football Field Could Begin Soon
(2007-06-06)
Hamilton's high school football field
(wium) - Volunteers could start moving Hamilton's high school football field this weekend.

The state says games can't be played at the field because a light pole and some bleachers are too close to the playing field.

Kirk Neally is helping to organize the effort to bring the field back into compliance.

He says the field must be shifted to the south and to the west.

To accomplish that, dirt must be brought in to level out a dip next to the field.

Neally hopes the fill dirt can be trucked in this weekend.

He says the field must be ready by August 25, which would be the first game scheduled in Hamilton.

Removable goal posts will also be installed.

The group hopes to raise about $10,000 for the project.

An auction will be held this weekend.

Additional information
* The auction will take place Sunday afternoon at 4:00 at the junior high gym.
* Neally says items to be auctioned or donations are still being accepted.
