Budget Cuts Likely At Central Lee
(2007-04-23)
Central Lee Superintendent John Henriksen
(wium) - Balancing next year's budget could require some major cuts by the Central Lee School Board, but the amount that must be trimmed is still unknown. While the board has approved the overall scope of Central Lee's budget, the specifics must still be worked out. Superintendent John Henriksen says the district will receive less money, because of declining enrollment, to spend on services next year. He says next year's shortfall will not be known until the district signs a new contract with its teachers. Henriksen says an arbitration hearing has yet to be scheduled. The school board has received a list of potential cuts to consider, including teachers. athletic programs, and curriculum. Henriksen says Central Lee's tax rate will remain the same.
