Western Illinois Museum Time Travelers Club

Time Travelers Club is a unique series of programs for families. Children ages 7 to 11 and their families are invited to journey back in time to explore key events in history and investigate how they impacted the lives of those in our region. Registration is now open for exciting two-hour sessions that include studying museum artifacts, visiting with guest speakers and participating in hands-on activities. Parents are always welcome, but not required.

Scholarships are available for those who can show financial need. Contact the museum for information about eligibility.

Sign up for individual weeks or the entire session. Each session will be limited to 16 participants. Applications available at the Western Illinois Museum or online registration is available on the museum’s web site here.

The Time Travelers Club will meet at the Western Illinois Museum unless otherwise indicated. For more information about the program, contact the museum at 309-837-2750.

On the Move!
Saturday, July 12
Discover the importance transportation had on the development of the region including river systems, railroads, highways, and airports. Learn about historical figures that changed the county’s ideas about travel including Amelia Earhart, the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and who visited Macomb.

Game of the Year
Saturday, August 30, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Explore the history of baseball,America’s most favorite pastime, and view the museum’s collection of early baseball uniforms. Campers will learn about local teams and their rivalries including the game that brought shoeless Joe Jackson and other “Black Socks” players to Macomb.

Holidays at the Homestead
Saturday, November 15, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Celebrate like the early homesteaders and learn about the tradition of harvest and winter holidays. Hands-on activities include candle making and making children’s toys.
